The Keswick area offers outstanding beauty which has to be seen to be believed, the clean mountain air and the picture postcard views make it the heart of the Lake district. Hope park (a one minute walk from Parkfield Guest house) with its stunning seasonal florla displays and 9 hole pitch and putt golf course provides a beautiful quiet idyll to sit and relax. The area is also notable as one of the few parts of England where the Red Squirrel can still be found because of local protection policies. Nature and wildlife enthusiasts may also wish to visit the Forestry Commission's Whinlatter Visitor Centre, which is situated north west of Keswick. Here it is possible to view a pair of ospreys who have returned to the same nest every year since 2001 and are due to return in April 2009. They have so far successfully raised eight chicks.
